Aims of the Program

Metabolic Health Check up and its 4 main aims:

  1. To evaluate whether the person is overweight. How serious is the problem?
  2. To determine the cause of excess weight from the medical standpoint. To evaluate the probable diseases that could increase weight.
  3. To evaluate how the excess weight has affected your body.
  4. To find the right way of losing weight for each individual. To give recommendations on weight loss acivities, based on objective medical indicators.
Metabolic Health Check up Program

Metabolic Health Check up  has 4 stages:

  1. Laboratory tests – blood tests, urinalysis;
  2. Diagnostic examinations;
  3. Doctor’s visit – Internist (anamnesis, physical examination);
  4. Specialist visits (if necessary).
1. Laboratory tests

  • Comprehensive metabolic panel:
    -  Diabetes diagnostics
    -  Metabolism of lipids (fat)
    -  Metabolism of albumens
    -  Evaluation of thyroid gland
    -  Evaluation of liver and pancreas
    -  Evaluation of kidneys
  • Electrolytes
  • Full blood count
  • Inflammation markers
  • Urinalysis.
2. Diagnostic examinations
  • Abdominal Ultrasound;
  • Thyroid gland Ultrasound;
  • Electrocardiogram (ECG);
  • Cardiac Stress Test
3.  Doctor’s visit

When all the laboratory tests and diagnostic examinations will be carried out- you will visit a doctor-internist, who will:

  • Gather information of your lifestyle, habits, medical history, overall feeling, used medication;
  • Carry out a general examination, evaluate the vital indicators, anthropometric measures (height, weight, BMI etc.), thickness of fat folds, your constitutional type, do a check-up, stomach palpation, auscultate your heart and  lungs;
  • Review and interpret the results of your tests and examinations;
  • Advice a specialist’s consultation if needed: Cardiologist, Endocrinologist, Gastroenterologist or Psychotherapist.

4. Electrocardiography (ECG) Heart rhythm and function tests done at rest.

Cardiac Stress Test (Must have eaten at least 1,5h before the examination + bring lab tests results) A cardiac stress test – assesses cardiac ability to tolerate a certain amount of physical activity. During the test electrocardiogram, blood pressure and heart rate are taken. Is used to determine pectoral angina – heart ischemia.

6. Doctor’s consultation Anamnesis, vital, physical and anthropometric indicators (heart rate, blood pressure; auscultation of lungs and heart; weight, height, fat folds, BMI). Summary of all the test and examination results, patient consultation, recommendations.

Result of the Program

When you complete the Metabolic Health Check up, you will receive:

  • a full medical report of the laboratory tests, examinations and doctor’s consultation;
  • association of your test results concerning your excess weight problem diagnosis;
  • recommendations and suggestions:
    • recommendations for your weight loss program;
    • recommendations for therapy, if necessary;
    • recommendations for improving your health;

The Metabolic Health Check up report will serve as a basis for further investigations to find the most suitable method for your individual weight loss program.

The report can be received at the clinic, by post or by e-mail in the Latvian, Russian or English languages.

To apply for any of our Health Check up programs you should:

You can ask our client manager to make the Health Check up schedule just for you. Our patient manager will contact you as soon as possible to agree upon the preferable and possible timing of your visits as well as ascertain any special needs, details about the program or travel advice.

It is also possible to pick you up at the airport, provide accommodation and arrange free time activities if needed.
