5 Easy Steps to Follow

Step 1

In order to get the referral for surgical manipulations or surgery, first patient has to visit one of the surgeons (mentioned above) in the Premium Medical Clinic. To the visit patient should bring all the medical documentation – results of all the examination and test, findings of previous doctor visits and other medical information that is related to the existing problem. During the consultation, the surgeon will decide if surgery is the proper way to solve the problem, as well perform all the additional examinations and tests that will be needed.

If needed, this process can be done through the Internet, but the appointment to the operating surgeon before the operation should be done anyway upon the arrival.

Step 2

When patient is referred to the surgery – the operating surgeon provides full information about the surgery, its process and the related activities.

Before the surgery patients need to  sign the following contracts and agreements:

• Agreement on patient care during, before and after the surgery.
• Patient’s informed consent for the surgery.
• Patient’s consent for the operation with general anesthesia.

Step 3

When the patient is being prepared for the surgery a special person – patient coordinator is assigned to the patient. The coordinator manages all the issues associated with the surgery – contracts, timing, transfer, examinations, tests, visits to the clinic before and after the surgery, the recovery time at the hospital and explains all the information to the patient. The patient also receives coordinator’s contact information so that he/she is able to ask all the questions and clear out all the uncertainties that he/she has concerning the process.

Step 4

A few days before the operation an appointment to the anesthesiologist will be scheduled. It will take place in Premium Medical Clinic (11 Duntes Street, Riga) or in the Riga Regional Hospital (13 Lakstigalas Street, Sigulda) where the surgery will be performed. During the appointment Anesthesiologist will evaluate all the test results and examination results as well as examine the patient to determine the type of anesthesia and possible risk factors that should be taken into account. Perhaps the patient will have to take additional tests before the operation that can be easily done at the clinic. If the test results are good and patient is allowed to take the surgery, a specific day and time will be arranged for the surgery to happen.

Step 5

On the appointed time and date of the surgery the transfer from Riga to the hospital will be made and the patient coordinator will be at the hospital, waiting for the patient to arrive and arrange all the needed settlements. In order to avoid unnecessary disturbances all the processes – both adults and children have been carefully thought out, still keeping an individual approach for each different case.

After surgery and discharge Premium Medical Clinic provides post-operative care for each of the patient.
